Our hotel is close to the Golden 1 Cente – in fact, it’s just a ten minute walk from your hotel room’s front door to the Golden 1 Center in the Downtown Commons. This indoor multi-purpose arena hosts a variety of events year-round, and it’s also home to the Sacramento Kings! Be a part of the action and come for a home game.
The Golden 1 Center reflects Sacramento’s commitment to locally-sourced goods and flavor. The arena was built with resources from the Northern California area, including Sierra limestone, sand from San Benito, and wood that was responsibly harvested. The food at the arena is truly “farm-to-court,” with 90% of the food sourced from a 150-mile radius, along with the majority of the beer, wine, and spirits. The arena is decorated with art, including Sacramento-born Phil America’s sculpture made of disassembled shoes re-assembled into the Kings logo, and an enormous and colorful installation by the infamous Jeff Koons.
For super-fans, the Golden 1 Center offers a game day tour! They are available either through the Fan Experience Program, or to the public 24-hours prior to game day. The tours last 45 minutes and gives you a behind-the-scenes look at the venue and the place the Sacramento Kings call home.
Getting from our hotel to the Golden 1 Center couldn’t be easier. Parking around the arena, especially on game day, is hectic—luckily Best Western Plus Sutter House has free parking for guests! To get there, walk west along H St to 7th, and then south to the Downtown Commons and the Golden 1 Center. Get there early to explore Downtown Commons, a new shopping and entertainment district in Downtown Sacramento.
