Jedediah Smith Memorial Trail

Winding from Folsom to Old Sacramento, the 32-mile Jedediah Smith Memorial Trail runs along the American River from Discovery Park to Beals Point. The trail is a popular spot for hiking, jogging, strolling, cycling, horseback riding, and inline skating. The trail offers access to several parks, including Paradise Beach and River Bend Park, and the American River, where you can go fishing and rafting.

    The American and Sacramento rivers are amazing destinations for rafting, kayaking and canoeing adventures. Discovery Park, Sailor Bar and the Sunrise Recreation Areas are popular raft and watercraft launches so you can and explore Sacramento’s beautiful rivers. River Bend Park is a popular take-out spot for rafters and kayakers. After your rafting adventure, you can hop on the shuttles back to your launch point for a small fee.

    American River Parkway offers many scenic and shady picnic areas. One of Sacramento’s oldest county parks, River Bend offers a beautiful, green picnic area along the river. Discovery Park, Ancil Hoffman Park, Paradise Beach, Sunrise Recreation Area and the William B. Pond Recreation Area offer peaceful picnic spots where you can relax and enjoy an afternoon lunch. Sarah Court offers a quiet, rocky beach where you can escape the pace of the city.
